DA arrears will be paid when the financial situation of state improves: CM Sukhu

The total payable is 11 percent.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that all the arrears of dearness allowance will be paid as soon as the economic condition strengthens. Three installments of dearness allowance are payable for the officers and employees working in various departments of the state. Sukhu said that the state government has to pay 4 percent DA from July 1, 2023, 4 percent from January 1, 2024 and 3 percent DA from July 1, 2024. The total payable is 11 percent.

The government has not yet paid the arrears of dearness allowance due on July 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023. In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA Satpal Singh Satti, tabled in the House, the Chief Minister said that in view of the financial condition of the state, there is a delay in paying dearness allowance to the officers and employees. CM Sukhu said that the state government has taken effective steps to improve the financial situation and the process of better financial management is going on.

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the matter of restoration of old pension in the State Electricity Board is under consideration. Giving a written reply to the question of BJP MLA Lokendra Kumar from Ani, the Chief Minister said that OPS has not been implemented in the Electricity Board for regular employees who are under the NPS scheme after the year 2003. From January 2022 to 20 February 2025, a total of 248 employees have retired from the Electricity Board under the New Pension Scheme.

Science faculty closed in 66 schools due to zero enrollment

Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that the permission of Science Faculty has been withdrawn in 66 senior secondary schools of the state due to zero enrollment in Science Faculty. Giving a written reply to the question of BJP MLA Trilok Jamwal, the Education Minister said that the posts of 201 teachers of these schools have been kept in the surplus pool. He said that no faculty will be closed in schools where there is sufficient number of students.
