Electricity employees demonstrate at board headquarters, protest against removal of outsourced drivers

The electricity board management had removed 81 outsourced drivers from their jobs from December 1.

Shimla: Electricity employees are furious after Himachal Electricity Board management removed 81 outsourced drivers from their jobs. Electricity employees who reached Shimla from across the state demonstrated at the board headquarters premises on Monday and demanded the management to restore their services. They also warned that if their services are not restored, the Joint Action Committee of Electricity Board engineers and employees will hold a fierce agitation against it.

The electricity board management had removed 81 outsourced drivers from their jobs from December 1. After this, engineers and employees of the electricity board have come out in their support. Even today, engineers and employees of the electricity board from across the state reached Shimla.

Electricity Board employees have warned the board management to restore the services of the drivers soon. Joint Action Committee convenor Heera Lal Verma said that if the board management does not restore the services of outsourced drivers, then such demonstrations will continue in the board headquarters in the coming days.
