Himachal Pradesh: An employee of the Zilla Parishad office deposited the budget worth lakhs of rupees for the development work of the Panchayat under the 15th Finance Commission into his personal bank account. This scam has been exposed during the audit of Panchayats conducted through the audit team. The audit revealed that an employee of the Zilla Parishad office had deposited around Rs 42 lakh in his account. The report prepared after the audit has been submitted to the District Panchayat Office. When the matter was investigated by the Panchayat officer, it was confirmed that the employee of the Zilla Parishad office had deposited about Rs 42 lakh in his account. After the matter came to light, the concerned employee has been suspended. Along with this, a complaint regarding the matter has also been submitted to the police. Along with the departmental investigation, police investigation has also started in the matter.
It is also being told that after the matter came to light, the accused has deposited Rs 32 lakh with the department. However, more than nine lakh rupees are still to be paid. According to information received from sources, the budget received by the District Council in the 15th Finance Commission was allocated to the Panchayats. Later, when this came to light, the employee deposited lakhs of rupees from those panchayats into his account. The employee has transferred around Rs 42 lakh to his personal account. Additional Superintendent of Police Hamirpur Rajesh Kumar says that a complaint regarding the matter has been received from the District Panchayat Officer. Based on the complaint, further action is being taken.
District Panchayat Officer Shashibala says that the employee of the Zilla Parishad office has deposited lakhs of rupees in his account and evidence of this has also been found in the investigation. The employee has been suspended and a departmental inquiry is being conducted. A complaint has also been submitted to the police.
