Entry of Monsoon in all districts of Himachal today; IMD issued yellow alert

Monsoon has knocked in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh yesterday. According to the Meteorological Department, it can reach all 12 districts today. But with the entry, the monsoon has started weakening. However, monsoon has made a strong entry in Bharwai and Shimla of Una.

70 mm of rain was recorded in Bharwai during the last 24 hours. Shimla also received continuous heavy rain for three hours from 10 pm. At the same time, light rain also occurred in Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Mandi and Hamirpur. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain in the entire state for the next six days i.e. till July 3.

In view of this, a yellow alert has been issued. However, two days ago, IMD had issued an orange alert for heavy rain on 29 and 30 June. But now the orange alert for heavy rain has been removed and a yellow alert has been issued. The weather has remained clear since this morning in most areas of the state including Shimla.

Yellow alert for six days

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 10 other districts except Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti for the next six days from today. Along with rain today, strong winds are also expected at a speed of 40 to 50 kmph at some places. According to the IMD, due to the weakening of the western disturbance, now a yellow alert has been issued instead of orange.

Heavy rain in Shimla

According to the IMD, during the last 24 hours, 70 mm of rain was recorded in Bharwai of Una, 42 mm in Amb, 7.2 mm in Jogindernagar of Mandi, 19.3 mm in Palampur and 2 to 15 mm of rain was also recorded in different areas of Solan, Sirmaur and Hamirpur. Shimla was also flooded due to torrential rain for three hours at night.

Temperature drops by 9 degrees in many cities

With the entry of monsoon in the state, a huge drop in temperature has been recorded. The temperature of Una district has dropped from 39.2 degrees to 33.8 degrees Celsius.

Bilaspur’s temperature has dropped the most by 8.8 degrees. After this, Bilaspur’s temperature has dropped from 38.3 degrees to 29.5 degrees. Hamirpur’s temperature has also dropped by 7.1 degrees. Hamirpur’s temperature has dropped from 36.6 degrees to 29.5 degrees.

Shimla’s mercury was 23.2 degrees, Dharamshala 30 degrees, Nahan 33.3 degrees, Solan 27.5 degrees, Manali 25.8 degrees, Mandi 30.8 degrees, Bilaspur 29.5 degrees, Kufri 19.6 degrees, Rekong Peo 29.6 degrees, Seobagh 29.1 degrees and Narkanda’s maximum temperature was 23.7 degrees Celsius.

Monsoon arrived two days late

If IMD is to be believed, Himachal will receive continuous rain for the next six days. In view of this, a yellow alert has been issued till July 1. Usually, monsoon arrives between 22 and 25 June. This time, monsoon has arrived in the state two days late from the normal date.

Advisory to local people including tourists

In view of the yellow alert of rain in Himachal, the Meteorological Department has issued an advisory to tourists including local people that they should not go to high altitudes, landslide prone areas and near rivers and streams.

Pre-monsoon rain in many cities

Pre-monsoon rain has been occurring in many areas of the state for the last three days. This has definitely given relief to the people of the state from the scorching heat. But the temperature of other cities including Una is still above normal.
