Flash-flood in Udaipur of Himachal

Udaipur-Tandi road restored after 8 hours; BRO opens highway for all of vehicles.

Udaipur: A flash flood occurred in the Udaipur sub-division of the Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh last night after heavy rains. Due to this, the Udaipur-Tandi State Highway was closed near Madhgram drainage at 3 a.m. After its closure, a large number of vehicles were stranded on both sides of the road. By 11.30 a.m. on Monday, the highway had been opened for all types of vehicles.

According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), heavy rains occurred in the Udaipur sub-division at 3 p.m. on Sunday. This caused heavy flooding in the Madhgram drainage, and heavy debris came onto the road connecting Udaipur to Tandi. Due to this, the road was closed to all types of vehicles.

After this, the machinery of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) reached the spot, and the road could be restored after about eight hours. All the vehicles stranded on the state highway have now been removed.

The pre-monsoon has started in Himachal. The monsoon may also arrive on June 27. In the first rain of the pre-monsoon, the weather started wreaking havoc in the Udaipur sub-division.
