Fresh snowfall occurred this morning on the higher peaks of Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Usually, snow does not fall in June. But this time, snowfall is happening in June as well. This morning, snow fell in Langcha village of Lahaul Spiti. This has made the weather cold in the valley. At the same time, there is an orange alert for heavy rain and storm in 6 districts today.
Meteorologist Sandeep Sharma said that the department has the record of snowfall only of those stations where they have weather stations. The place where there is information of snow falling this morning does not have a weather station of the department. Therefore, it cannot be said that snow has fallen for the first time in June. But he admitted that snowfall in June is not normal.
Heavy rain in 3 districts at night
At the same time, heavy rain and strong storm also occurred in many areas of Shimla, Mandi and Bilaspur districts last night. Karsog of Mandi district received the highest rainfall of 64.1 mm. Kufri received 45.0 mm of rain, Shimla received 40.2 mm, Ghaghs of Bilaspur received 37.0 mm and Naina Devi received 34.6 mm of rain.
After the rain and snowfall, cold has returned to the higher regions. The minimum temperature of Shimla has dropped to 9.2 degrees Celsius after falling 7.2 degrees below normal. The temperature of other cities has also dropped below normal.
The temperature of Kangra, which is counted among the hottest cities, has also dropped to 15.4 degrees after falling 5.6 degrees below normal, Palampur’s temperature has dropped to 13.5 degrees after falling 6.4 degrees, Nahan’s temperature has dropped to 17.3 degrees after falling 6.1 degrees, and Manali’s temperature has dropped to 10.3 degrees Celsius after falling 0.4 degrees below normal.
