A gang that provides jobs on fake documents in rural branches of the Postal Department is active in Himachal Pradesh. This gang prepares fake certificates by taking money. Later, to get a job, the youth apply by presenting fake mark sheets of fake certificates. Recently, the CBI Shimla branch had caught fake mark sheets. This was revealed during interrogation of the accused in this case.
The CBI suspects that this gang making fake mark sheets is also working in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar. From the year 2019 till now, more than 200 cases of fake mark sheets have come to light in Himachal. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has obtained a search warrant from the Shimla court to search the residence of the accused Omveer, a resident of Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana. The Bureau had applied to the Sessions Court for a search warrant against the accused. Now the court has asked the CBI to submit its report by May 19.
According to the case registered in the Shimla branch of CBI on 31 March 2025, Omveer was appointed as Gramin Dak Sevak, Branch Postmaster Fozal BO in Kullu in the year 2022. Meanwhile, when Omveer’s marksheet was verified, it was found to be fake as per the report of the Under Secretary Secondary Education Council Prayagraj. After this, his services were terminated on 27 September 2023. On the other hand, during the verification of Omveer’s original certificates and documents in the CBI investigation, it was found that the mark sheet was never issued by the concerned body. The involvement of unknown public servants is also being investigated in the whole episode.
Recruitments for the posts of Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster and Gramin Dak Sevaks are published by the Postal Department through All India Online Selection Process in the year 2019. Under this, the youth are selected according to the merit list of matriculation marks. In the departmental investigation of the recruitments done during the last few years, certificates of more than 200 youths from the state and outside states were found to be fake. Now the CBI is slowly unravelling the layers of these cases.
