Green fee to be levied on vehicles coming from other states to Shimla, Municipal Corporation passed a new proposal

This time the corporation has prepared a new proposal.

Vehicles from outside states coming to Himachal Pradesh’s capital Hills Queen Shimla will now have to pay green fee on entering the city. In the monthly meeting of the Municipal Corporation chaired by Mayor Surendra Chauhan, the proposal to start collecting green fee from outside vehicles has been approved.

Now the final approval on this will be given by the government. The special thing is that this fee will not be collected from electric vehicles. The Municipal Corporation has been planning to collect green fee since 2015. But for the last ten years the government is not approving it. This time the corporation has prepared a new proposal.

According to the new plan, now the fee will not be collected by stopping the vehicles from outside states coming to Shimla city at any barrier. The corporation will install high-tech cameras at the entry gates of the city so that the movement of all vehicles will be monitored. These cameras will identify all vehicles with outside numbers.

After this, using the records of the RTO, the owners of these vehicles will be sent a message of the fee on their mobile. This fee will have to be paid within 24 to 48 hours. If the payment is not made, the corporation will send an alert message again. The fee can be paid online. Apart from debit, credit and net banking, fee can also be paid through QR code. These cameras will also be connected to the Integrated Command and Control System prepared under the Smart City Mission. The corporation had also started collecting green fee in the year 2014 but then it was stopped due to the dispute over the barrier.
