Handicraft Handloom in-charge arrested in Chamba for taking bribe of Rs 18 thousand

Vigilance made a plan with the complainant to catch the bribe-taking employee red-handed.

Chamba: Chamba Vigilance has arrested the Chamba in-charge of Handicraft and Handloom Corporation red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 18,000. Vigilance has registered a case against the accused and has started interrogation after taking him into custody.

The accused will be produced before the court on Saturday. The case was confirmed by ASP Chamba Vigilance Abhimanyu Verma. According to the information, Vikrant Gill, in-charge of Handicraft and Handloom Corporation Chamba, demanded a bribe of Rs 18,000 in lieu of paying the master trainer who trained the trainees under the corporation’s craft scheme.

Master trainer and complainant Amit Verma complained about this to the Vigilance. Vigilance made a plan with the complainant to catch the bribe-taking employee red-handed.

As per the plan, to fulfill the employee’s demand for bribe, the master trainer called the said in-charge of the corporation to the Ravi View Cafe of Himachal Tourism Corporation in Chamba. As soon as Amit Verma handed over the bribe amount to the said employee, the vigilance team immediately raided and arrested the accused employee red handed with the bribe amount. A female employee was also included in this vigilance team.

After completing the investigation process of the case under the leadership of ASP Vigilance Abhimanyu Verma, the accused was arrested. The investigating officer said that the vigilance has started to get to the bottom of the matter. If sources are to be believed, the investigation may also reveal some names to whom the share of this bribe was to be delivered. At present, the accused will be produced before the court on Saturday.
