Heatwave alert in Himachal: Temperatures soars to 43.5 degrees

Along with the plains of the country, the mountains of Himachal have also started heating up due to heat. Heat wave has been prevailing in many areas of the state for two days.

Shimla, June 12: Along with the plains of the country, the mountains of Himachal have also started heating up due to heat. Heat wave has been prevailing in many areas of the state for two days. A warning has been issued regarding heat wave today and tomorrow as well. Orange alert has been issued regarding heat wave in Una and Kullu districts, and yellow alert has been issued in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts.

Heat wave is predicted in six districts tomorrow as well. In view of this, people have been advised to be cautious. Heat wave has been felt in many areas of Kullu, Mandi and Una during the last two days as well. Due to the heat wave during the next 48 hours, the temperature will rise by two to three degrees.

The temperature of 11 cities has already exceeded 35 degrees Celsius. The temperature of Una has reached 43.5 degrees Celsius.

Kalpa’s mercury rose by 5.8 degrees

The average maximum temperature of the state has increased by 3.7 degrees from normal. The temperature of many cities has increased by 6 degrees from normal. Kalpa has recorded the highest increase of 5.8 degrees in temperature compared to normal. The temperature of Kalpa has reached 28.7 degrees Celsius.

Chances of rain from June 14

According to the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is becoming active on June 14. Due to this, light rain may occur at some places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti districts. After the rain, the temperature will drop slightly and there will be relief from the heat.

Heat wave poses a danger to humans

Heat waves can cause dehydration in a person’s body. This can even kill a person. Changes in sodium and potassium concentration in the blood can affect the heart and nerve cells. This causes problems in breathing and blood flow.

A person affected by heat stroke may feel weak, have headache, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive sweating, feeling tremors, dizziness and muscle cramps. If any of these symptoms are seen, a doctor should be consulted immediately.

What to do to avoid heatstroke?

During a heat wave, one should consume as much liquid as possible and wear light and loose cotton clothes. Similarly, one should not go out in the sun without any reason. If necessary, go out wearing a cloth, cap or handkerchief on the head. While travelling, keep a bottle of water with you and drink ORS solution. Stop consuming intoxicants and eat high protein food.
