Heatwave breaks all records in Himachal: Rain brings relief in Shimla; possibility of rain for next six days

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light rain in the high and medium altitude areas of the state for the next six days. But it is not likely in the plains.

On Wednesday, the temperature of Neri in Hamirpur reached 46.3 degrees and Una reached 46 degrees Celsius. Earlier, on 23 May 2013, the maximum temperature of Una was recorded at 45.2 degrees Celsius. This is the highest record temperature till date.

The Meteorological Department does not have any old record of Neri. But on wednesday the hottest day of this season was recorded in Neri.

Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Surendra Pal said that WD is definitely becoming active. But there is no possibility of heavy rain due to this. Light rain is forecast only at a few places. However, there can be some relief from the heat after light rain in the high and medium altitude areas.

Heatwave yellow alert in these districts even today

For today, the Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave yellow alert in six districts. These include Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Sirmaur and lower areas of Solan district. Heat waves can be felt in some areas of these districts even today, while there is a possibility of getting relief from heatwave from tomorrow.

Temperature increased by 8 degrees above normal in many cities

The temperature of 9 cities of the state has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. The temperature of many cities has increased by 8 degrees Celsius above normal. The temperature of Hamirpur has increased the most by 7.9 degrees compared to normal.

The temperature in Mandi was 7.7 degrees, Shimla 5.9 degrees, Sundernagar 5.5 degrees, Bhuntar 5.9 degrees, Kalpa 3.6 degrees, Una 6.9 degrees, Dharamsala 6.6 degrees, Solan 5.7 degrees, Bilaspur 7.6 degrees and Nahan was 5.4 degrees more than normal.
