Police have arrested three youths with charas, chitta and opium in two separate cases in the district. In this, charas and opium were recovered from a person in Sunni and chitta from two youths in Kharapathar. Sunni police raided a house in Mandhodghat and recovered charas and opium. In this, accused Sohan Lal has been arrested. Police raided Sohan Lal’s house on the basis of information. During this, during the search of the house, about 536 grams of charas and about 298 grams of opium were recovered from the possession of the accused.
The police have arrested the accused. Sohan Lal was produced before the court on Wednesday from where he was sent on five-day police remand. Police is now trying to find out by interrogating the accused that for how long he has been involved in this illegal business of charas and opium. After this, the police will take further action in the case. This year, the police has launched a special campaign under Mission Bharosa to take action against drug smugglers. Its purpose is to take action against people involved in illegal drug trafficking in cities as well as rural areas.
So far, the police have registered around 170 cases under the NDPS Act in the district and around 260 accused have been arrested. The police have decided to deploy beat constables in panchayats as well to crack down on drug smugglers. The police say that strong steps are being taken to clean up the drug mafia in the district. He said that people involved in the drug business will not be spared at any cost.
6.16 grams of chitta seized in Kharapathar
A special police team arrested two youths with 6.16 grams of chitta in Kharapathar late night in Rohru. The special police team was on patrol in Kharapathar at night. During this, a car was searched on the basis of secret information. Manish Kumar, a resident of Dim village of Jubbal tehsil and Vikrant Chauhan, a resident of Madhan village were travelling in the car. When the police searched the two youths, they recovered 6.16 grams of chitta. DSP Pranav Chauhan said that both have been arrested.
