38 medicines including those for diabetes, migraine, high blood pressure, stomach gas, vitamin D-3 and infection manufactured in Himachal Pradesh have not been found to be up to the standards. Migraine medicines are supplied only to government hospitals. Samples of two batches of this have failed. Samples of 135 medicines across the country have been found to be substandard. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization and the State Drug Controller had taken samples of medicines in December.
State Drug Controller Manish Kapoor said that notices have been issued to the companies whose drug samples have failed and their stock has been recalled. The process of cancelling the license has also been started.
