The central government has allocated Rs 2,716 crore to Himachal Pradesh for the expansion of railways in the Union Budget. Apart from this, four railway stations of the state will be upgraded on the lines of Amrit station. Rs 45.5 crore will be spent on upgrading Amb-Andaura, Baijnath-Paprola, Palampur and Shimla stations. The work of these stations will start soon. This will expand the facilities available to the passengers.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in a video conferencing on Monday regarding the state-wise budget allocation. He said that the central government released a budget of Rs 2,716 crore for Himachal Pradesh for the year 2025-26. In the railway budget, Himachal has been given only 18 crore more than last year. Last year 2698 crores were released to Himachal. This year Rs 4,641 crore has been released to Uttarakhand.
A budget of Rs 5,421 crore has been allocated for Punjab, Rs 3,416 crore for Haryana and Rs 2,593 crore for Delhi. After 2014, 16.5 km track has been extended in the state. Work is going on on four rail projects in the state, in which 255 km rail track is being laid. Rs 13,163 crore is being spent on these projects.
24 rail flyovers and under bridges have been constructed since 2014. WiFi facility has been made available at 24 railway stations in Himachal. Vande Bharat train is being run through one district with 2 special stops in the state. He said that 50 new Namo Bharat trains, 100 Amrit Bharat trains, 200 new Vande Bharat trains will be run in the country. Apart from this, new flyovers and underpasses will also be constructed.
