Himachal: Country’s largest convention center will be built in Tapovan, new recruitments in medical colleges soon

The Chief Minister said that by next year, about 10 day-boarding schools from pre-primary to eighth standard will start functioning in the state.

Dharamshala: Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu announced the construction of an international convention center in Tapovan in Kangra district. The Chief Minister said that this will be the biggest convention centre in the country. About Rs 150 crore will be spent on its construction. Big seminars will be organised in it. This will boost tourism activities while creating employment opportunities for local youth. In a public meeting at Dadi Mela Ground near Dharamshala, the Chief Minister said that new recruitments are being done in medical colleges for the convenience of the people.

PET scan machines will be made available in IGMC Shimla and Tanda Medical College. The money spent on repairing old machines in the previous BJP government could have been spent on buying new machines.

The Chief Minister said that by next year, about 10 day-boarding schools from pre-primary to eighth standard will start functioning in the state. He also laid the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art milk processing plant with a capacity of 1.50 lakh liters per day to be built at a cost of Rs 225 crore at Dhagwar in Kangra.

The Chief Minister said that the Congress government has fulfilled its electoral promise by restoring OPS. I am the son of an employee and have come from a common family. As long as the Congress government is in power in the state, OPS will continue for the employees. The Center has cut the state’s loan limit by Rs 1600 crore and imposed additional restrictions in view of the government’s decision to restore OPS. About Rs 9,000 crore under NPS is still stuck with the Central Government and now pressure is being built to implement UPS.

The state government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. The Congress government is ensuring transparency. At present, the recruitment process is going on for other posts including Van Mitra. The state government will take strict action against officials who tamper with merit during the selection of eligible candidates.
