The state government will supply electricity to the farmers of Himachal Pradesh at the rate of 30 paise per unit. A notification was issued in this regard by Energy Secretary Rakesh Kanwar.
Recently, a notification was issued to provide electricity at the rate of Rs 5.04 per unit in the electricity tariff for agricultural consumers. There was no mention of subsidy in this.
Now in the notification issued on Tuesday, it was clarified that the government will give a subsidy of Rs 4.74 per unit to agricultural consumers. That is, such consumers will have to pay electricity bill at the rate of 30 paise per unit.
This notification will come into effect from April 1, 2025. Due to a slight delay in the issuance of the notification, farmers who have received electricity bills at temporarily increased rates will be given relief by adjusting the extra amount collected from them in the upcoming bills.
