Shimla: The state government has alerted Himachal about monkeypox. Its cases are increasing in the country. As a precaution, the government has instructed to make arrangements in medical colleges and district hospitals. A meeting of health officials was held on Wednesday regarding this disease. It was chaired by Health Secretary M Sudha.
She said that monkeypox is a viral disease. Its symptoms are like smallpox. In a research done in 1958, this disease was found in monkeys. That is why it is named monkeypox. People coming to Himachal from abroad have been asked to be monitored. It is a global public health concern.
Fever, headache, body pain are the symptoms of this disease. Health Secretary M Sudha has also instructed medical officers, staff nurses, CHOs and health workers to organize meetings in the districts. Medical colleges, district hospitals have been asked to keep at least 5 to 6 isolation extension facilities.
