Shimla: Himachal government will provide full salary to MBBS doctors who undergo postgraduate studies and special training. Earlier, doctors going on study leave used to get only 40 percent salary. This was making it difficult for them to get higher medical education.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that doctors take care of patients along with their academic responsibilities. This is also important for the health system of the state. The decision to give full salary during study leave will prove helpful to doctors in balancing their education and professional responsibilities. This will increase the quality of medical education.
Specialization will be encouraged and health services will improve across the state. After getting higher education, these doctors will serve in government health institutions, which will also make the health system of Himachal Pradesh more present.
The development of the health sector is among the top priorities of the current state government. Many initiatives are being taken to provide better medical services in the state itself. Investments have been made to purchase modern medical equipment in medical colleges, which has reduced the need for patients to travel to other states for treatment. The availability of super specialist doctors and MD specialists will strengthen health services.
