The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the Health Secretary to ensure the deployment of necessary staff in the Civil Hospital Dodra Kwar. A division bench of Justice Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Ranjan Singh gave these orders while disposing of a PIL filed regarding the lack of staff nurses and other officers in the hospital.
The Additional Advocate General presented the situation through the affidavit of the Director of Health Services dated April 28. It has been told through this that orders have been issued to fill three posts out of five staff nurses. Transfer posting orders to fill other posts will be made as per the requirement and need of the hospital. The High Court had taken cognizance of the shortage of ward sisters and staff nurses.
The division bench has said that the vacant posts should be filled soon, so that the residents of the said area do not have to remain deprived of medical assistance. Four medical officers are working against the sanctioned posts in Civil Hospital Dodra Kwar of Shimla district, but no one is working against the five sanctioned posts of staff nurses. Similarly, adequate staff is not available against other posts. It is becoming difficult for medical officers to work due to lack of assistance from ward sisters and staff nurses. As a result, vacant posts should be filled in such a way that medical officers and subordinate staff are available there.
