The state cabinet had decided to fill the posts of constables on September 14, 2023. For this, advertisements were issued by the department in the year 2024. The advocate of the petitioners told the court that the cutoff date of ex-service was changed by the department.

This date was fixed by the department between 13 December 2022 to 2024. The petitioners say that this date should be counted from 1 January 2022 to 1 January 2024. Recently, the commission had extended the date when there were technical problems in applying.
