Shimla, July 8: There was heavy rain at night in Churah of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. Due to this, the road in Thali Nala got washed away. Panchayat Pradhan Jai Singh said that the road got washed away due to the strong flow of water in the drain. Local people will now be able to travel through the Pangola bridge.
He said there was no cloudburst anywhere in the area. Water often flows in Thali Nala during the rains. The road has been damaged due to this many times before.
At the same time, there was no rain in the state during the last 48 hours despite the warning of red and orange alerts. There is no forecast of rain in most parts, even in the next 5 days. After heavy damage in many areas of the state, the monsoon seems to be weakening.
People have heaved a sigh of relief because cloudburst incidents have occurred at about 22 places in just 2 weeks. Due to this, property worth about Rs 600 crore has been destroyed, more than 30 people have died and more than 32 people are reported to be missing.
Now, understand why the monsoon weakened?
♦Meteorologist Shobhit Katihar said that monsoon rains are caused not by Western Disturbance but by ‘Monsoon Trough’. He said that 3 days ago there were indications of the monsoon trough moving from Delhi towards North Haryana. In view of this, red and orange alerts of heavy rain were issued in Himachal. But this monsoon trough got held in Delhi itself.
♦Shobhit Katiyar said, the monsoon trough is showing signs of moving towards the south instead of moving towards North Haryana. Due to this, rainfall has decreased in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, including Himachal.
♦Katiyar said, there is no possibility of heavy rain in Himachal in the next 5 days. Rain will occur in the mountains only when the monsoon trough moves towards the North. There are no signs of this right now. Right now there are chances of light rain only in the plains.
♦Shobhit Katiyar said, when the monsoon trough shifts towards the North, there is heavy rainfall in the mountains. When the monsoon trough moves towards the South, there is good rainfall in Central India. For good rainfall in Himachal, it is necessary for the monsoon trough to move towards the North again.
What is monsoon trough?
♦The monsoon trough is an important factor in monsoon rainfall in India. It not only brings rain, but it also influences the direction and intensity of the monsoon.
♦The monsoon trough consists of moisture-laden winds that rise and form clouds, leading to rain. The monsoon trough is a low-pressure area that stretches from northwest India to the Bay of Bengal. It forms a long line and remains active during the monsoon, leading to rain.
