During the event at the ‘International Folk Dance Kullu Dussehra Festival’ in Kullu, Sukhu emphasized the government’s focus on tourism as a priority sector, as outlined in the recent state budget.

Sukhu noted the ambassadors were impressed by the state’s beauty and investment opportunities. He revealed plans to develop Kangra as a tourism capital and launch unique initiatives including a 24/7 tourist village and water sports promotion at Pong Dam. A comprehensive tourism development scheme, backed by a Rs. 1,311 crore investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to enhance the state’s tourism infrastructure, including a network of heliports.

Highlighting the importance of cultural exchanges, Sukhu celebrated the participation of diplomats from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, who found linguistic parallels with Himachal’s culture. He also stressed that infrastructure development is crucial for tourism growth and emphasized plans to enhance the tourism sector to create more employment opportunities for youth.
