Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s first sky glass bridge will be built on the old crane of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) at a place called Mandi-Bharadi, located just ten kilometres from Bilaspur district headquarters on the Kiratpur-Nerchowk four-lane road.
In this regard, BBMB has approved the request letter sent by the district administration for NOC. Also, the way for the construction of the proposed skyglass bridge on the crane has been cleared. River View Point and eight bighas of land around it have been transferred to the name of the Tourism Department. A large food court will be built here, along with the River View Cafe, for which a proposal is being prepared.
The important thing is that this project will be leased out for the next 25 years on a lease of one rupee. This will become a very big junction in terms of tourist attractions. There is a year-old crane of BBMB at Mandi-Bharadi on the four-lane road, which is no longer used for any purpose. There is a plan to make good use of the old crane that has been rusting for years, on which a plan has been made to build a skyglass bridge.
Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq thinks that this viewpoint should be developed from a tourism point of view so that tourists going towards Kullu Manali also stop here and enjoy cruises, houseboats, water scooters, etc., along with the selfie point. There is also a proposal to build a zipline to cross the lake.
A letter was written by the district administration to the Bhakra Vyas Management Board for NOC to build a sky glass bridge on the crane, on which the green signal has been given from that side. After getting the NOC, the administration is now busy preparing the blueprint for the plan.
