Rainfall to persist for 5 days in Himachal: Yellow alert in 4 districts today

Shimla, July 13: The rainy season is not going to stop in Himachal Pradesh yet. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of continuous rain in the state for a week. The Meteorological Department has predicted that till July 18, there will be light to moderate rain at many places in the state. Heavy rain may occur once or twice at some places in five days. For this, the Meteorological Department has currently issued a yellow alert.

There is a possibility of rain in many districts today

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in 4 districts of the state today (13 July). These include Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in these districts. Light rain may also occur at other places in the state.

Last week, the rainfall was 17 percent less than normal

According to the Meteorological Department, the pace of monsoon has been slow in the state last week. Last week, 17 percent less rain than normal was recorded across the state. Bilaspur, Kullu, Mandi, Hamirpur and Una have recorded more than normal rain, while other 7 districts of the state have received less than normal rain. These districts include Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur.

250 roads including 2 NHs are closed…

In Himachal Pradesh, 250 roads including 2 National Highways are closed till late evening. Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh is the district most affected by the disaster and both the National Highways are closed in this district. Mandi Kullu NH is blocked near 4 mile while Dharampur-Kotli is also closed due to landslide. In Mandi district alone 203 roads are closed. Apart from this, 327 electricity transformers are closed in the state while 787 water schemes are damaged.
