This matter may further increase political tension in the area, as the local community and opposition parties are continuously protesting on the issue of transfer of Horticulture College. These complaints were lodged by Congress leaders Jagdish Reddy and Virendra Kumar on 25 July 2025. The incident took place when Minister Negi was staying at the Thunag Rest House after visiting the flood and landslide affected areas in Janjheli and Thunag and meeting the victims. The first FIR lodged in Janjheli on the complaint of Congress leader Jagdish Reddy alleges blocking the minister’s path and showing black flags.

57 people have been made accused in this FIR. The second FIR alleges stone pelting and death threats. The case has been registered under sections 125, 351(2) and 352 of the Indian Penal Code.

The third FIR alleges that women blocked the minister’s path and threw shoes. The complaint alleged that seven women stopped the minister’s car on the bridge near Thunag market at around 5:35 pm, raised slogans against shifting of the horticulture college from Thunag, showed black flags, and insulted the car by throwing shoes at it. Action has been initiated in this case under sections of the Indian Penal Code.
