Rain alert in 7 districts of Himachal today: Heavy rainfall forecast on 21-22 July

A yellow alert for rain has been issued in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh today (17 July). The weather department has predicted that there will be heavy rain in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts.

Shimla, July 17: A yellow alert for rain has been issued in seven districts of Himachal Pradesh today (17 July). The weather department has predicted that there will be heavy rain in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. Also, the yellow alert will remain in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts in the coming two days (18 and 19 July).

There is a forecast of rain in Sirmaur district on 20th July. In other districts, the weather is likely to remain clear or lightly cloudy. But an orange alert for heavy rain has been issued again on 21st and 22nd July.

During the last 24 hours, many parts of Sirmaur district have received heavy rains. Nahan received the maximum rainfall of 22.9 mm, Dhaula Kuan received 17 mm. Dharamsala also recorded 17.1 mm rainfall.

This week rainfall is 26% less than normal

The state has received 26 per cent less rain than normal during the last week. Between 9th and 16th July, the normal rainfall is 59.7 mm, but only 44.3 mm of rain has fallen. During this period, Kullu received 125 per cent more rain than normal, Shimla received 59 per cent more rain, and Mandi received 38 per cent more rain.

Chamba has the lowest rainfall

In Chamba, the rainfall has been 68 per cent less than normal. Chamba receives 70.8 mm of rainfall during this period. But this time, only 22.4 mm of rain has fallen. In Kangra district too, this time, 52.6 mm rainfall has been recorded as compared to the normal rainfall of 134.3 mm, which is 61 per cent less than normal.

On the other hand, Una has received 84 percent less rainfall than normal, Chamba 72, Hamirpur 18, Sirmaur 23, Solan 40, Hamirpur 18 and Kangra district has received 69 percent less rainfall than normal.

Property worth Rs 820 crore destroyed

Heavy rains and cloudbursts in this monsoon season (20 June to 16 July) in the state have destroyed government and private property worth Rs 820 crore. Similarly, 106 people have lost their lives. Out of these, 24 people have lost their lives due to landslides, floods and cloudbursts, while 34 people are missing. 44 people have lost their lives in road accidents.
