A Himachal Pradesh soldier was martyred while on duty in Sikkim. Lance Naik Manish Thakur of Baraban village of Nahan sub-division was martyred after being hit by an avalanche. He was on duty last evening. He was hit by an avalanche at around 7.30 pm.
27-year-old Manish Thakur was born in 1998. He joined the Army 8 years ago. Now, after serving the country, he has sacrificed his life for the country. After the news of Manish’s martyrdom, there is a wave of mourning in the entire area and people have started gathering at the martyr’s house.
The martyr’s body is being brought to Chandigarh by helicopter today. If the weather does not create any hindrance, the body will reach Chandigarh by evening and the martyr’s last rites can be performed tomorrow.

Deputy Director of Sainik Welfare Board, retired Major Deepak Dhawan said that the administration has been informed. He told that martyr Manish Thakur was on duty in Chhatte village of Sikkim. He was serving in the Three-Dogra unit.
