Himachal Pradesh to Receive Rs 1378 Crore from ADB for Tourism Infrastructure and Development

The famous Naggar Castle in Kullu will be restored, and public places and modern tourist sites will be beautified.

Shimla: Basic facilities for the entertainment of tourists will be provided at the tourist destinations of Himachal Pradesh. To support this, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is soon going to grant ₹1378 crore to Himachal Pradesh. On Thursday, an MOU was signed between the Himachal government, ADB, and the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India. This was confirmed by the Principal Secretary of Tourism, Devesh Kumar.

After the signing of the MOU, work on various projects will begin soon. Under the ADB-funded project, tourist sites in five districts – Kullu, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, and Shimla – will be developed. Heritage buildings will be restored in the Mandi and Hamirpur districts. Particularly, there are heritage buildings in Mandi, known as “Chhoti Kashi,” which attract tourists from across the country.

Under this project, basic facilities at tourist destinations, conservation and restoration of heritage buildings, better connectivity for tourist sites, adventure activities, water sports, beautification of tourist places, wellness centers, entertainment facilities for tourists, ice skating, roller skating rinks, wellness centers, water-park complexes, and biking trails will be developed.

The famous Naggar Castle in Kullu will be restored, and public places and modern tourist sites will be beautified. In Kangra, a conference center and other infrastructure facilities will be developed. The Sukhu government has claimed that Kangra will be developed as the tourism capital. Under this project, the tourist sites in Kangra will be developed, and electric vehicles will be introduced at these destinations.

This project will not only contribute to the development of tourist sites but also create new employment opportunities. On October 3rd, ADB had already approved a loan of 162 million US dollars. After the signing of the MOU, work will begin on the ground.
