Himachal Pradesh braces for heavy rain: BBMB to release water from Pong Dam

Shimla: The weather in Himachal Pradesh will change from today. A warning of heavy rain has been issued from tomorrow for the next three days. Before the rain in the mountains, the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has issued an alert to release water from the Pong Dam. According to the BBMB, 40,000 cusec of water will be released.

This will increase the water level of the Beas River. In view of this, people living on the banks of the Beas River in Indora, Fatehpur, and Punjab have been asked to remain vigilant. According to the Meteorological Center, Shimla, a Western Disturbance will become active from tonight. Rain and snowfall are forecast in the mountains for the next four days. A yellow alert has been issued for storms and hurricanes with winds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour.

Heavy rain warning on October 6

On October 6th, heavy to very heavy rainfall is possible at isolated locations in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and Mandi districts. An orange alert has been issued for these districts, while a yellow alert has been issued for Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

Snowfall may occur on the higher peaks

According to the Meteorological Department, snowfall is possible on the higher peaks of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti districts. This will cause a drop in temperatures. On October 5th, isolated areas in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts may experience rain and hailstorms. A yellow alert has been issued for this.

Storm alert from today till October 7

A yellow alert has been issued for isolated heavy rain in Kangra, Solan, and Sirmaur districts on October 7. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall will begin on October 5. However, the storm warning has been issued starting today.

The temperature will decrease from tonight.

Temperatures in most cities across the state are currently above normal. Temperatures will begin to decrease starting tonight. The state’s average maximum temperature is currently 0.7 degrees above normal. Maximum and minimum temperatures are forecast to drop two to three degrees below normal over the next three to four days.
