Jwalamukhi: In Himachal Pradesh’s world-famous Shaktipeeth Shri Jwalamukhi temple, Maa Jwala has been giving darshan in the form of miraculous lights for hundreds of years. This Shaktipeeth is unique in itself because idol worship is not done here. In the temple of Maa Jwala, this live light has been shining with its energy for years. Be it from the country or abroad, crores of devotees have been visiting this place for years to see Maa Jwala Devi. Even in today’s scientific age, they bow down to see the miracle of the mother.

Seven eternal flames are present in the sanctum sanctorum of the main temple of Maa Jwala Devi, which are called by different names. Maa Jwala appears first among the flames in the form of Mahakali. These flames appear in the temple in the form of Chandi, Hinglaj, Vidyavasini, Annapurna, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati to the devotees. Maa Jwala is considered supreme among the 51 Shaktipeeths.

Shri Jwalamukhi Shaktipeeth, located in the Kangra Valley, is considered supreme among the 51 Shaktipeeths. This is the only Shaktipeeth among these peeths where the mother is seen in the form of flames. This Shaktipeeth is also described in the Shiva Mahapuran. When Lord Shiva started roaming the entire universe with the mortal remains of Mata Sati, then Sati’s tongue fell at this place, due to which Jwala appears here in the form of light.

According to another legend, when Mata Jwala appeared, a cowherd first saw the divine light on the hill. King Bhumichandra built the temple building. There is also a belief that the Pandavas came to Jwalamukhi. A popular hymn by Kangra also bears witness to this. Panja Panja Pandava Maiya Tera Bhawan Banaya, Arjun Chanwar Jhulaaya Meri Mata.

Akbar was also a devotee of Maa Jwala. Emperor Akbar also reached the court of Maa to test Maa Jwala. Akbar built a canal to extinguish the flames, but due to the miracle of Maa, the flames could not be extinguished. King Akbar, overcome by pride, offered a gold umbrella weighing 1.25 kg in the temple, but Maa Jwala rejected this umbrella and broke it. This umbrella of Akbar is still present in the temple. In this regard, Akbar came naked and offered a golden umbrella to my mother.
