The state government has instructed the Public Works Department that it will be necessary to take permission from the government before issuing any tender.

Preparations are underway to chargesheet 10 XENs and SDOs of the Public Works Department. The government had served show cause notices to 90 engineers for negligence in development works and giving benefits to contractors. There are 10 engineers whose answers were not found satisfactory. In such a situation, the sword of action is hanging over them. The state government has instructed the Public Works Department that it will be necessary to take permission from the government before issuing any tender. No work will be done without permission.

This decision has been taken to stop wasteful expenditure. The government has also come to know that the poles and other development works were done first by the contractors. After this, contractors benefited by issuing their tenders. Files of development works were pending with many engineers for months. Many engineers are also accused of taking commission. After the matter came to the notice of the government, strict action has been taken against the engineers. The government believes that work has to be done immediately when a disaster strikes and any sudden incident occurs, but apart from this, work was done in the districts to benefit the contractors.

Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that laxity in development works will not be tolerated. Instructions have been given to take action against careless engineers. Show cause notices were issued to many engineers. The Public Works Department has also appealed to the people that if poor quality work is being done in their area, they can complain about it. It has also been observed that after tarring of the road, the road is getting damaged in the second year. The government has also given instructions that the Public Works Department will not give work to such contractors again. Action will also be taken against the engineer on the spot.
