A retired officer of Rajasthan living in Sidhbari area adjoining Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, has been cheated of Rs 94.30 lakh. This fraud has happened while investing in the online share market. The former officer lives in his in-laws’ house. The victim has deposited this amount in the account of the fraudsters in nine to ten installments.
According to the information, the former officer of Rajasthan deposited this amount in the bank accounts of the fraudsters on the lure of investment received on WhatsApp. In the initial phase, the fraudsters also lured the said person with a profit of about two lakhs. After this, the former officer started sending money to various accounts mentioned by the fraudsters in several installments.
Meanwhile, the fraudsters got an amount of Rs 94.30 lakh deposited in their accounts in different installments by telling them that they would get a profit of three crore rupees. Whereas in return, the former government officer did not get any money back. Now, after being cheated, the victim former officer, has registered a case in the Cyber Crime Police Station, North Zone, Dharamshala. In the complaint, the victim has said that he had seen a post on WhatsApp about earning more profit by investing online. After this, he was robbed of lakhs of rupees in just one month.
Fraud in the name of investing in the online share market
ASP Cyber Crime Police Station North Area Dharamshala Praveen Dhiman said that a case has been registered on the complaint of the former government official and an investigation is being done. ASP said that efforts have also been started to freeze the amount of about Rs 50 lakh in this. He has appealed not to fall into the trap of online investment.
