Himachal: Schools from pre-nursery to 12th class will come under the Directorate of School Education

Two notifications were issued in this regard on Wednesday.

In Himachal Pradesh, the Directorate of Elementary Education has been upgraded to the Directorate of School Education. Schools from pre-nursery to class XII will come under the Directorate of School Education. A separate directorate will be formed to look after the functioning of college and higher education. An eight-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Education Secretary for the formation of both directorates. The committee will decide the instructions regarding the distribution of staff and work area in both directorates. Two notifications were issued in this regard on Wednesday.

In the cabinet meeting recently, it was decided to reorganize the Directorates of Education. The government has made separate directorates for school and college. Under this, the Directorate of Elementary Education has been upgraded to the Directorate of School Education. Earlier, pre-nursery to class VIII were kept under the Directorate of Elementary and class IX to XII, college and higher education were kept under the Directorate of Higher Education. Now IAS officers can be appointed to the post of Director in both directorates. Currently, HAS officer Ashish Kohli is in charge of School Education and Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma is in charge of Higher Education Directorate.

These will be the members of the committee
On the other hand, in the committee formed under the chairmanship of the Education Secretary, apart from the Directors of School Directorate, Higher Education Directorate and Samagra Shiksha, Additional Secretary, Under Secretary Education and Joint Control Accounts of Samagra Shiksha have been made members. The Joint Secretary will be the Member Secretary of the Education Committee.
