Himachal Weather Update: Amid fresh snowfall in Lahaul Spitit IMD issues rain alert for next 5 days

A yellow alert warning has been issued in all districts except Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur tomorrow. During this time, heavy snowfall may occur in high areas, heavy rain, storm and thunderstorm in medium and low areas.

There has been fresh snowfall on the high peaks of Lahaul Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for rain and snowfall for 5 days. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be rain and snowfall in the state till March 16.

The weather in Shimla has remained clear since this morning. IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain and snowfall in five districts Mandi, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur today. A yellow alert warning has been issued in all districts except Lahaul Spiti and Kinnaur tomorrow. During this time, heavy snowfall may occur in high areas, heavy rain, storm and thunderstorm in medium and low areas.

Yellow alert has also been issued in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts on Holi day i.e. March 14. Warning has been issued in Mandi, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur for March 15.

Western disturbance will weaken on 17 March

There are chances of rain and snowfall in most parts of the state on 16 March as well. Western disturbance will weaken on 17 March. On this day, the weather will be clear in the rest of Himachal except the higher regions.

Temperature rises before rain and snowfall

There has been a significant rise in temperature before rain and snowfall in the mountains. The average maximum temperature of the state has become 2.2 degrees higher than normal. Bilaspur’s temperature has risen the most by 5.2 degrees and the mercury here has reached 29.7 degrees. Solan’s temperature has reached 27.2 degrees with 4.4 degrees more than normal and Shimla’s temperature has also reached 20.2 degrees Celsius with 4.4 degrees more than normal.
