An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh. This is the first time an orange alert has been issued in this winter season. This warning has been issued for February 20.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy snowfall may occur in one or two spells in the high regions of Kangra, Kullu, Chamba and Mandi. A yellow alert has been issued in the high regions of Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur and Kinnaur districts.
There are chances of rain and snowfall in the high regions of the state today. But the weather in Shimla remains absolutely clear in the morning. Western disturbance is expected to become more active from tonight. Its effect will remain till the morning of February 21. After this, the Western disturbance will weaken for two days.
In view of the activity of Western Disturbance, the Meteorological Department has issued an advisory to the local people including tourists. People have been asked not to go to high areas, to be cautious, to drive carefully on snowy roads.
According to the weather department, Shimla’s famous tourist places Kufri, Narkanda, Manali, Solang Nala, Dalhousie and Sissu may also receive good snowfall tomorrow. However, the weather department’s predictions have repeatedly proved wrong this season. But the department’s forecast has given the people of the state hope that the dry spell will end.
