Mandi: The work of bypassing the Pandoh market under the Kitarpur-Manali four-lane project seems to be hanging right now because NHAI’s project director has received suggestions from the headquarters to change the alignment of this bypass project again. Let us tell you that there was a lot of damage near Pandoh Dam during the last rainy season and this time’s rainy season.
A large part of the four lanes constructed here has also been badly damaged. Due to this, NHAI headquarters has now sought a proposal to change the alignment of the Pandoh bypass and explore the possibilities of expansion of the already proposed tunnel here.
Actually, NHAI wants the 900-meter tunnel proposed near Pandoh Dam in the Pandoh bypass project should be extended further because the four lane which has been damaged here is likely to be damaged even more in the future. Therefore, emphasis is being laid on the expansion of the tunnel here. Therefore, NHAI’s project director has been ordered to re-align it.
NHAI Project Director Varun Chari said that a proposal has come to explore the possibilities of tunnel construction near Kainchi Mor. Survey is being done here through geo tagging. After the survey, all the reports will be prepared and sent to the headquarters. Soon the alignment of the Pandoh bypass will be approved and this work will be started.
Talking about the current situation, there is no possibility of tunnel construction here at the moment because of the area where the tunnel construction is being talked about. There is already a sliding zone there. If NHAI has to build a tunnel here, then it will have to dig very deep. By doing this, its alignment will not match with the tunnels being built at present, but now after preparing all the reports on this subject, the details of Pandoh bypass have to be prepared again and sent.
