Himachal’s golden boy Sawan Barwal breaks National record with 5000 m race in 13.45 minutes

Shimla: In the 38th National Games being held in Uttarakhand, Himachal’s Sawan Barwal has broken the national record of 5000 meter race. Sawan Barwal has brought laurels to the state by winning the gold medal. Athlete Saavan completed the 5000 meter race in just 13 minutes 45 seconds. Before this, Maharashtra runner Laxman had completed.

Athlete Saavan completed the 5000 meter race in just 13 minutes 45 seconds. Before this, Maharashtra runner Laxman had completed the 5000 meter race in 13 minutes 58 seconds 10 years ago.

The next target of Sawan Barwal, a resident of Jogindernagar in Mandi district, is now the Olympics and Commonwealth Games. Earlier, Sawan Barwal had also won a gold medal by completing the 10,000 meter race in 27 minutes 49 seconds.

Sawan Barwal is currently serving in the Indian Army. According to coach Gopal Thakur, Sawan is consistently performing well at the national and international level. Sawan has given the credit of his success to his sports trainers.

Jairam-Kangana congratulated

Former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has called Sawan the ‘Golden Boy of the country’. Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut has also congratulated Sawan for the achievement.
