Shimla: BPL families will be selected afresh in Himachal Pradesh. The criteria for this were decided in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. Now such families will be included in the BPL list in the state, in which there will be no adult between the age of 18 to 59 years.
Families headed by women, whose heads are 50 percent or more disabled, who have worked at least 100 days in a year under MNREGA, whose earning members are suffering from cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, muscular dystrophy, thalassemia or any other serious disease that causes permanent disability. Such families will be included in the BPL list.
The cabinet has made the income condition for eligibility in BPL 1.50 lakh. Earlier, only those families whose income was 30 thousand rupees per annum were selected as BPL. 2.82 lakh BPL cards will be made in the state.
The cabinet paid tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and observed two minutes of silence. The cabinet approved naming Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPPA) Shimla after Dr. Manmohan Singh in view of his contribution to the development of the country.
The cabinet approved the formation of a special task force to deal with drug abuse in the state, drug smuggling and to eliminate organized crime networks.
In Himachal, cutting of all types of trees except taffeta, poplar and bamboo has been banned. The government will start the Gaon Ke Dwar program. Under this, the government will go from village to village and listen to the problems of the people and the problems of the public will be resolved on the spot.
