The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board has canceled the Class 12 English examination for the March 2025 session across the state. Officials said the reason for the cancellation of the examination is the fear of paper leakage. The incident has come to light at Government Senior Secondary School in Chauhri in Chamba district, where teachers mistakenly opened the Class 12 English question paper when the Class 10 English exam was to be held on that day. According to the board’s examination schedule, the Class 10 English exam was to be held on March 7, while the Class 12 exam was to be held on March 8.
According to the official information of the board, an anonymous complaint was received on March 7, in which it was said that the Class 12 English question paper was opened ahead of time. After receiving the complaint, the board immediately started an investigation. Meanwhile, this mistake was confirmed on the basis of video evidence received from the “Preekhya Mitra App”. This app was recently launched to enhance the security of the exam.
Board cancels exam immediately
Himachal Pradesh School Education Board Secretary Vishal Sharma said on Friday that the matter has been taken seriously. The board chairman has ordered the immediate cancellation of the Class 12 English exam under Section 2.1.2 of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board Examination Rules, 1993 (Amended 2017). He said that maintaining the credibility of the exam is the priority of the board and any lapse in security will not be tolerated.
When will the exam be held now?
The board said in its notification that the new date of the exam will be announced soon. Students have been advised to keep checking the board’s official website and their schools for updates.
