HPBoSE to teach computer subjects from class 6 in government schools

The Board of Education has prepared a proposal to start the subject in schools, which has been sent to the state government for approval.

Students of government schools in Himachal Pradesh will study computers from class VI from the next academic session. There is a plan to start this subject from the academic session 2026-27. Himachal Pradesh School Education Board is planning to provide computer education to children from class VI from the next academic session. Till now, computer education is taught in government schools from class IX. This subject to be started from class VI will be kept in elective subjects. To start this subject, computers will have to be installed in schools and for which funds will be needed.

In the proposal made by the board, this fund can be made available under the new National Education Policy. The board management has prepared the capital outline to start this subject from class VI and sent it to the state government for approval. If the state government approves this scheme, then in the upcoming academic session, children of class VI in government schools of the state will also be able to study computers, for which they have to wait till class IX.

The board has planned to start teaching computer subject from class 6 in the government schools of the state in the academic session 2026-27. A proposal has been prepared for this and sent to the state government. A plan has been made to provide funds in the new education policy to start this subject in schools.
