HRTC bus services to remain closed on 20 routes of Punjab

The HRTC bus service will remain closed on 20 routes of Punjab for the time being. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has instructed HRTC officials not to run buses until the situation becomes normal. On Monday, Mukesh reviewed the latest situation with the Managing Director and officials of the corporation. After the incidents of putting up posters of Bhindranwale on the corporation buses in Punjab and writing HRTC Khalistan in Amritsar, the corporation management has stopped bus services on 20 routes of Punjab on the orders of the state government.

These are the routes where the buses stop for night halt. Regarding the matter, DGP Atul Verma has also talked to the DGP of Punjab and demanded to provide security to the corporation buses. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has also talked to the Chief Minister of Punjab regarding this. HRTC Managing Director Dr. Nipun Jindal said that for the time being the bus service will remain closed on 20 routes of Punjab. However, Punjab Roadways buses are running normally in the state.

The State Road Transport Corporation Drivers’ Union has warned against misbehaving with drivers, conductors and passengers in Punjab. The State President of the Union, Man Singh Thakur, said that if any driver, conductor or passenger gets a scratch in Punjab, they will close all 600 routes in Punjab. He said that in the past few days, the buses of the Road Transport Corporation were vandalized.

In an informal conversation with journalists in Solan on Monday, he demanded that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann register a case of treason against Bhindranwale’s supporters. He said that he has also spoken to Chief Minister Sukhu and the Deputy Chief Minister. After this, the night movement of buses in Punjab has been stopped till further orders. He said that Himachal has a brotherhood with Punjab. Bhindranwale’s supporters should stop such activities.
