Shimla: In Himachal Pradesh, shopkeeper used to touch indecently while buying goods; the accused has already served a sentence in the murder case.
A shopkeeper molested 11 girl students of a government school in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The accused has opened a shop outside the school. It is alleged that whenever the girls went to the shop to buy some goods, he used to touch them indecently.
The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act on the complaint of the chairperson of the school’s sexual harassment committee and started further action.
The accused, Satya Prakash, fled from the spot even before the FIR. The police have started searching for him. He is a resident of Bhudak Khagna village in Chaupal. A few years ago, he came out after serving a sentence in a murder case.
According to the information, the accused runs a shop along with the school. He did obscene acts with the girl students from 7th to 11th grade at different times. A female student told this to the head girl of the school. On June 15, the head girl told this to the teacher, the chairperson of the school’s sexual harassment committee.
After this, 11 girl students told the sexual harassment committee that the shopkeeper had touched them inappropriately. A meeting of the School Management Committee (SMC) was called for June 18. The SMC decided to report the matter to the police. A complaint was given to the police yesterday.
SHO Manoj Thakur of Chaupal police station said that after receiving the complaint, the police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and started further action. The accused has fled somewhere. He will be arrested soon.
The SHO said that the accused came out of jail three years ago after serving a 22-year sentence in a murder case. The accused’s behaviour was not good in jail as well. After being released from jail, the accused has been running a shop near the school for almost three years.
After the FIR in this case, the police recorded the statements of all the girl students. Further action will be taken on this basis.
