Kangra: In Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, in the fair ground of Dadh adjacent to Shri Chamunda Nandikeshwar Dham, a truck driver ran his truck over four sleeping children. Due to which one child died on the spot and three were injured. It is being told that both the legs of one child are fractured. The driver has been arrested by the police. The police have registered a case and started further action.
The deceased child has been identified as Amit Kumar, age 9 years, while Deepak (12), Karna (7), and Kunal (5) are injured. The injured are currently undergoing treatment at Tanda Hospital. It is being told that all four children are residents of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, who have been living here for 20 years.
According to the police, truck driver Ravi Kumar used to park the vehicle mostly on this ground. He had to go to Lahaul this evening. Therefore, the accident happened at 10.30 a.m. while parking the vehicle.
After this, there was screaming and shouting on the spot. On hearing the cries and screams of the children, the locals rushed to the spot and took the injured children to the Nagarota Bagwan Hospital, from where they were referred to Tanda Medical College. It is being said that the children’s parents had gone to get food at the time of the accident.
SHO Palampur Surendra Kumar said that the police have registered a case under Sections 281, 125(A), 135(B), and 106(1) of the Indian Penal Code.
