BJP targets by-elections in Himachal

The strategy for the upcoming three by-elections was also decided.

Shimla: In Shimla, the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party was held under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur. Two new MLAs, Sudhir Sharma and Indra Dutt Lakhanpal, could not attend the meeting as they had gone to Delhi. BJP State President Dr. Rajiv Bindal was present. 

About the meeting, MLA Randhir Sharma said that two resolutions were passed in the Legislature Party, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was congratulated for becoming the Prime Minister for the third time and National President Jagat Prakash Nadda for becoming Union Minister for the second time. In the second resolution, gratitude was also expressed to the BJP workers for the way the Bharatiya Janata Party won 61 assembly constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections.

Randhir Sharma said that in the meeting, six by-elections were also reviewed for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, and six by-elections were also reviewed in the meeting. The strategy for the upcoming three by-elections was also decided. In this meeting of the Legislature Party, the assembly by-elections to be held in the three assembly constituencies of Nalagarh, Hamirpur, and Dehra were discussed, for which the election schedule has been released. 

The Leader of the Opposition has said that the party will put all its strength into these by-elections. On Wednesday, a meeting of the BJP core group has also been scheduled in Shimla, in which the strategy for the by-election will be decided. Jairam Thakur said that now the code of conduct has been lifted from the state. Therefore, there is no ban on any kind of development work. The BJP will also make the stalled development an issue.

On Wednesday morning, the new MLAs elected to the six seats in the assembly by-election will take oaths on the assembly premises. 

The oath-taking ceremony will be held in the library hall, and the preparations have been made by Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania. Rakesh Kalia from Gagret, Vivek Sharma from Kutlehar, Anuradha Rana from Lahaul Spiti, and Captain Ranjit Singh from Sujanpur have won. Sudhir Sharma from Dharamshala and Indra Dutt Lakhanpal from Barsar have become MLAs from the BJP. After the oath, there will be a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party at 12:00 pm.
