Shimla: On International Women’s Day, daughters have given a big gift to the country. On Saturday, in the 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Tehran, India defeated Iran in the final and won the title. India defeated Iran 32-25. The Indian team performed the best in the championship held from 6 to 8 March. The Indian team registered one-sided victories in all the matches.
The contribution of five daughters of Himachal Pradesh was important in getting the title for the country. All-rounder Pushpa Rana of Shillai area of Sirmaur led the team as vice-captain and played an important role in the victory with her brilliant game.
Nidhi Sharma of Bilaspur, Jyoti Thakur of Solan, Sakshi Sharma, Bhavna Thakur also contributed not only in taking the team to the finals but also in getting the gold. In the semi-finals, India defeated Nepal 56-18. Kabaddi Association General Secretary Krishna Lal said that the daughters have once again made the whole country proud.
