The name of the president is almost final. Now only the announcement is awaited. Party sources say that the BJP high command will crown the president in five-six states simultaneously. Due to this, the announcement of the president of Himachal will have to wait for a few days.
This meeting of Jairam with two big leaders of BJP has heated up the political temperature of Himachal. This has also created a stir in Himachal BJP. Party sources say that Jairam has put forward two names for the post of president. These include Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sikandar Kumar and MP from Kangra-Chamba seat Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj.
Before Jairam Thakur, other leaders of Himachal BJP have also met the top leadership of the party in Delhi and lobbied for the post. All the leaders have presented their views to the high command regarding the post of president. Now the party high command has to take the final decision regarding the president. It is believed that the new president will be crowned within a week.
Four big names are being considered prominent
Four big names are being considered prominent in the race for the post of president in Himachal. These include Rajiv Bhardwaj, Sikandar Kumar, Rajiv Bindal and Trilok Jamwal. Rajiv Bhardwaj is a leader from the organization. He has also been associated with the RSS. He is an MP from Kangra seat. Kangra district holds the key to power in Himachal. For this reason, his claim is considered strong.
Apart from these four strong contenders, the names of Jairam Thakur, Anurag Thakur, Vipin Singh Parmar, Satpal Satti, Bikram Thakur, Indu Goswami, Randhir Sharma are also in discussion. Only time will tell whom the party makes the president. It is being told that within a week, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh will come to Himachal and announce the new president, because the high command has appointed him as the election officer for the Himachal BJP President Election.
Sources say that of course, the current MLAs are in the race for the post of president
But the party can put a condition of not contesting the elections in 2027 on making such a leader the president, so that the president can take charge of the party’s campaign in the entire state in the assembly elections. Therefore, the party has the option of making any non-MLA the president. Because of this, Dr. Sikandar, Rajiv Bhardwaj and Indu Goswami are more likely.
