This can be gauged from the fact that till now, nearly two lakh tourists have reached Kangra Valley through flights, whereas last year, 2 lakh tourists had reached by flights in the whole year. In such a situation, the airport management is fully confident that this time the record of tourist arrivals at Kangra Airport will definitely be broken.
At the same time, the number of flights which had reduced during the rainy season has also started increasing now. According to the airport management, when the weather changes during the rainy season, tourists refrain from coming to such places, which reduces the number of tourists.
At the same time, airlines also reduce flights during the rainy season. During the rainy season, 3 to 4 flights used to come regularly to Kangra Airport, which has now increased, and currently 7 flights are coming continuously, that is, 14 up-down movements are taking place at Kangra Airport.
Among these, 3 flights are of Indigo, out of which 2 come from Delhi and one from Chandigarh. SpiceJet has 2 flights coming from Delhi. Alliance Air has 2 flights, out of which one is coming from Delhi and one from Shimla. The number of tourists and flights at Kangra Airport is increasing year after year. Last year, about two lakh tourists had reached Kangra Airport by flights, while this year the figure till now is about two and a quarter lakh. There is still time, so there is every possibility that this time Kangra Airport will break the record of last year’s tourist arrivals.
