Tragic landslide on Chandigarh-Shimla highway claims life of Punjab resident

3 injured, and Hill fell on the Bolero camper; the vehicle was going to Shimla carrying newspapers. 

Shimla: A landslide occurred from a hill in Parwanoo last night on Chandigarh-Shimla National Highway 5. A Bolero camper came under its grip. A person named Devraj from Punjab died in it, while three people are said to be injured. The injured are being treated at ESI Hospital Parwanoo. Police have registered a case and started further action.

According to the information, a Bolero camper vehicle numbered PB 08CP-9686 was going from Chandigarh last night carrying newspapers. At around 2.30 am, a landslide occurred from a hill near  Love Himachal Park in Parwanoo. The vehicle came under its grip. This has also caused heavy damage to the vehicle. Seriously injured Devraj was referred from Parwanoo to PGI, where doctors declared him dead.

After the landslide, the highway was closed to all types of vehicles and was restored at 6 a.m.

A landslide also occurred on the connecting road in Shimla’s Bharari at around 9 a.m. Fortunately, vehicles were not hit by it because stones had already started falling from the hill. Seeing this, the drivers stopped beforehand, and within no time the debris from the hill came on the road. After about two hours, this road has been opened for vehicles.
