Shimla: As soon as monsoon knocked in Himachal Pradesh, the Public Works Department has cancelled the leaves of field staff. Field staff will not get leaves till the end of monsoon.
PWD personnel will get leaves only in emergency situations for the next two and a half months. After these orders, Junior Engineers, Supervisors, Poklane, Dozer, Robot, JCB Operator, Beldar etc. of PWD will have to remain deployed on the road at all times.
After the review meeting of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu and PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh, the department has issued orders in this regard to all Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers.
Let us tell you that every year the roads in the state suffer the most damage due to rain. People have to face problems due to the closure of roads and dozens of villages in the state lose contact with the district and state headquarters for many days. In view of this, the department has issued orders to keep the roads open all the time.
Government ready to deal with rain: CM
The field staff of PWD has been asked to be ready for this at all times. Not only this, the department has been instructed to send a report of closed and restored roads to the PWD headquarters every day.
