Leopard dies on National Highway in Mandi, hit by an unknown vehicle

As soon as the information was received, DFO Kamal Bharti reached the spot with his forest department team and took the dead leopard into his custody.

Mandi: An unknown vehicle hit a leopard on National Highway 154 Jogindernagar Pathankot road in Mandi district on Friday late evening. During this, the leopard died on the spot due to a serious head injury.

Local youth Ankit Jamwal immediately informed the forest department officials about the incident. As soon as the information was received, DFO Kamal Bharti reached the spot with his forest department team and took the dead leopard into his custody. Giving information about this, DFO Kamal Bharti said that the leopard died due to a vehicle collision.

The forest department has taken the body of the dead leopard into its possession. On Saturday, the postmortem of the body will be done and the last rites will be done under the supervision of a high-level investigation committee.

It is being told that when the vehicle was passing, suddenly the leopard came under the vehicle. At the same time, the villagers are scared due to the increasing activity of leopards in Balu village of Sanor Valley and its surrounding areas. The villagers have demanded from the Forest Division Officer Mandi to install a cage to catch the leopard here.
